Statistics: Russia’s annual inflation slows to 5.8% in November

MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s annual inflation slowed to 5.8% in November from 6.1% in October, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Tuesday.

In monthly terms, inflation grew by 0.4 percentage points on the month in November.

In January–November, consumer prices grew 5%, the service said.

Food inflation slowed down to 0.7% in November from 0.8% in October. Prices for tomatoes and cucumbers increased 25.7% and 31.2%, respectively, while banana prices rose 3.6%, prices for grapes and potatoes grew 3%, and onion prices increased 1.2%. Lemon prices fell 14%, orange prices decreased 5.3%, prices for apples fell 1.7% and for beetroot 1.1%.

Prices for milk, curd, sour cream, and yoghurt rose 1.1–1.6%. Prices for cheese went up 2.1%, while prices for poultry, fish products, juices and ketchup increased 0.9–1.2%.

The Economic Development Ministry keeps official inflation forecast for 2016 at 5.8%.
